I am full professor at the Faculty of Computer Science of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy and member of the International Software Engineering Research Network, ISERN. I was visiting researcher at the Max-Planck Institut für Mathematik in Bonn, Germany and at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. Between 2014-2017, I founded and was coordinator of the research group in Software and Systems Engineering (SwSE) at the Faculty  Computer Science. I have been program co-chair and member of the program committee of international conferences and reviewer for international conferences and journals in the SE field. I collaborated with industry since I started my research in computer science. In 2007, I was awarded by the Italian Association for Enterprises for the best example of Public-Private collaboration for having established a dual BSc program  at the Faculty of Computer Science. I am coordinator of the university consortium and the European Masters Program in Software Engineering (EMSE) funded by the Erasmus Mundus programme and director of the MSc program in Software Engineering for Information Systems. I have also established a makerspace at the Faculty of Computer Science, which now it has become a FabLab for the whole university.  My main research focuses on data mining in software engineering and software tools that support it. I am also interested in DevOps processes in particular in what concerns testing and reliability and the overall monitoring process. Part of my research is also focusing on monitoring and modelling systems of systems and their emergent properties (GAUSS project). Recently, I extended my research to performance and vulnerability of embedded systems.
