Tomb Raider II Survival GuideWalk-through
IntroductionBefore You Go...Guns and Bad GuysWalk-throughCheatsContents

Barkhang Monastery

If Tomb Raider II didn't contain Barkhang Monastery, it would be difficult to choose a favorite mission of the game. But it is here…. The objective of this portion of Lara's adventure centers around five blessed Prayer Wheels, and thanks to the design of the mission, you can collect them in almost any order (this guide provides the most efficient path). But the genius of this mission transcends its primary objective - you actually encounter an enemy who won't attack you unless you attack first. As always, the choice is yours to make.

Friends Forever or Enemies for Life?
When you enter the large courtyard, you step into the middle of a tussle between a gang of bad guys and some monks. While they pound each other, turn left and find the ladder on the red wall. Or stick around and greedily kill 'em all. What you choose to do here will affect the action ahead.

Note

If you decide not to assault the guardians of the monastery, you can all but holster your guns for the duration of the mission - the monastery monks and priests won't do anything more than give you a glance as you run past them. Plus they attack any bad guys they lay eyes on, meaning they do your dirty work for you. Very cool. Of course, attack just one of these keepers of the temple and you've got enemies for life. Play it both ways and decide for yourself which way you prefer.

Atop the ladder, turn around and leap onto the ledge to your right, then hop-grab the opposite ledge. Run over the rock pile and hop to the downward ramp, grab button down as you slide. Drop to the crack in the rock and shimmy left to where you can pull up. Then shoot out a window and enter the building. Time to get that first Prayer Wheel.
