This is the homepage for the course Introduction to Databases for 2nd year students.
It will grow over time, as we are progressing with the course during the semester.
You will find here information about the course and various pointers to useful resources.
Lectures: Slides and exercises
Individual Database Applications: Instructions
Note: Many students spoke to me and explained why it would be more suitable if
they can form the project groups themselves.
The arguments convinced me and therefore we will change the way in which we organise the groups.
Students form groups of three members and register, using the the form one finds here,
filling in the topic of the project, a short explanation, and the group members,
and sending it to
These are the groups that have formed to develop their
individual database applications (= IDAs)
Labs: Exercises, scripts, and sample solutions
Research Papers: Links to the classical research papers where the
ideas underlying our course were presented for the first time
