PostDoctoral Position in Data Mining and Information Retrieval
Published on February 8, 2011The Database and Information Systems Group is offering a 2 years postdoc position in Data Mining and Information Retrieval. We seek a highly motivated individual with research specialization in graph data mining, models of search, and algorithm design and analysis. The postdoc will be part of the ongoing research activities at the group, which include design, analysis and implementation of effective and efficient mining and retrieval systems. The research topics of high interest for us at the moment are entity search, opinion mining, and distributed graph databases. However, we do not exclude other related topics as well.
Tasks:As postdoc in the Database and Information Systems Group you will:
- carry out research in Data Mining and Information Retrieval
- participate and work partly on the RARE project;
- coordinate your work, and help with the coordination of the research activities of the Group;
- help supervising MSc and PhD students;
- fulfill light additional tasks, which may include helping with the acquisition of new research projects, etc.
Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:
- a PhD in computer science or a related field;
- scientific creativity and productivity, reflected by publications in international journals and conferences
- a background in data mining and information retrieval
- independent and well-structured working style;
- well-developed social skills directed to work in a team;
- fluency in spoken and written English.
Starting date: July 1, 2011
