XVDM System

This web page describes the XVDM system - a high dimensional visual data mining system. The XVDM system is developed at the department of Computer Science, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. Main developers of the system are Andrej Taliun and Arturas Mazeika. Many developers contributed to the system including the master students of the Data Warehousing and Data Mining course.

svn repository: If you have an account at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano you can retrieve the latest version of the code with the following command:

Installation Instructions

Required Packages

The following packages must be installed in order to compile and run XVDM under Linux:

On the debian based distributions it should suffice to install the following packages: libtool automake subversion libgsl0-dev libglut3-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libncurses5-dev. On a debian or ubuntu systems the following command should install the required packages:

sudo apt-get install g++ libtool automake1.9 subversion libgsl0-dev libglut3-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libncurses5-dev

Compilation and Installation

  • If you downloaded the tgz version of the software, extract the package:
  tar xvfz xvdm-x.x.x.tgz

where x.x.x is the version number of the xvdm system

  • make the system:
  cd xvdm; autoreconf; ./configure; make 
  • Run the module of interest, For example
  ./pexamples/scatter_plot
  ./apdf/apdf 

Note: in case you have a non-standard Linux distribution, you may need to update the user.make file and adjust the paths to the include files and libraries. The application was tested and reported to be running on the following Linux distributions:
