Short Bio:

Evgeny Kharlamov is a (post-doctoral) research assistant at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (FUB), Italy, where he works with Diego Calvanese and Werner Nutt. Evgeny is also a visiting researcher at Computing Laboratory of Oxford University working with Michael Benedikt (from April, 2011) and was a visiter researcher at the University of Edinburgh working with Leonid Libkin in Fall, 2011. Evgeny received a PhD degree in Computer Science from the FUB in April, 2011; his supervisors and co-supervisors were Werner Nutt, Pierre Senellart and Diego Calvanese. During the two years of 2009-2010 Evgeny was, first, an intern and then a research assistant at Inria Saclay, France, and was located in Telecom ParisTech, Paris, where he worked with Pierre Senellart and Serge Abiteboul. He got his European M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from both Dresden University of Technology and FUB in 2006. Evgeny is an alumni of the Novosibirsk State University, the Russian leading research school, where he studied mathematics.

His research interests focus around theoretical and algorithmic aspects of knowledge management: (i) the Semantic side of the World Wide Web and (ii) database management systems, with the focus on management of uncertain data. More specifically, the focus is on integration, aggregation, and evolution/updates for (i) uncertain and probabilistic (XML) databases and (ii) OWL2 and RDF ontologies in the context of the Semantics Web. Evgeny is a co-investigator in European Union projects: Webdam on Foundations of Data Management and ACSI on Artifact-Centric Data Interoperation. Evgeny has published several papers in top-tier conferences (VLDB, ICDT, ISWC).
