Ergonomic Stuff
I use the following tools to relieve my RSI problems:
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking (needs MS Windows, unfortunately)
- VXI Corp. (I use the TalkPro USB 200 and BlueParrott TalkPro B150-GTX headsets)
RSI prevention:
- Avoiding RSI (from the Google blog)
- Healthy computing. (a comprehensive website about ergonomics by IBM)
- USHA Checklist (a comprehensive ergonomics checklist by the US Department of Labor)
- Safe Computing Tips (many tips related to ergonomics and RSI)
Do not rely on "ergonomic" keyboards and mice to prevent RSI! Use the tips and guidelines you can find using the links above. It also helps to often change chairs, keyboards, and mice; I sometimes work standing up (I can do that because I use voice recognition). My primary input device is voice, replacing the keyboard. For the pointing device I alternate between mouse, trackball and touchpad. You might want to consider alternating the hand you use for the pointing device; I taught myself to operate the mouse with my left hand (I am right-handed); it was not hard.
See the following links for alternative keyboards and pointing devices.
