POSTDOC/PHD POSITION AT THE FREE UNIVERSITY OF BOZEN-BOLZANO, ITALY

The Database and Information Systems group at the Free University of
Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, invites applications for a

                      POSTDOC/PHD RESEARCH POSITION

in the area of spatio-temporal databases.  Your research will focus on
the design, development, and implementation of novel solutions for
advanced query processing, including
- isochrone queries in multimodal networks,
- sequenced spatio-temporal aggregation queries, and
- itinerary planning queries.

The research is done in the context of two funded research projects
with application scenarios in reachability and traffic analysis as
well as tourist information systems.  Teaching responsibilities and
the supervision of BSc and MSc students are optional.

The position shall be filled as soon as possible.  The contract is for
2 years and can be extended by another 2 years.

We seek a highly motivated candidate who demonstrates good knowledge
in areas that are relevant for the above mentioned topics.  Good
proficiency in English is expected, as well as an outstanding MSc or
PhD in Computer Science.  An independent working style and good social
and communication skills are very helpful.
