I am currently a postdoctoral research assistant at the KRDB Research Centre in Bolzano.
I study the complexity of semantic processing (viz., semantic analysis, disambiguation, reasoning)
in natural languages and their fragments, via computational and formal semantics, and ultimately
the computational complexity of the logical meaning respresentations they induce.
In particular, my work tries to stress how
computationally hard (i.e., under which conditions it is decidable, and, if so,
whether it is computationally tractable, intractable or harder)
it is to reason with natural
languages (such as English) and controlled fragments, pinpointing, to this effect,
the language constructs that give rise to good and bad computational properties. More recently,
I have been also studying how to apply computational logic and computational semantics
to the medical domain.
