The Annual “IBM & KRDB” Best Thesis Awards
Presented by the IBM Center for Advanced Studies
The KRDB Research Centre (“Knowledge Representation meets Databases”), at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy, invites entries for the annual “IBM & KRDB” awards for the best thesis on a Computational Logic related topic and for the best thesis on a Language and Communication Technologies related topic, which is generously presented by the IBM Center for Advanced Studies.
Students who have completed a thesis at the Free University of Bozen- Bolzano on a relevant theme in the two above areas within the past two years are invited to submit their work as specified below for consideration. Theses may be submitted prior to the degree defense and will be judged by a joint panel of academic and industry experts.
Scope
Possible and not exclusive areas of the thesis might include:
- in the Computational Logic area:
- Logic
- Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
- Search
- Declarative Programming
- in the Language and Communication Technologies area:
- Linguistics
- Text and Speech technologies
- Syntax, Morphology
- Semantics, Pragmatics and Discourse
Prize
Each winner will receive 500 € from IBM. In addition, the winner will be invited to present the thesis at the the Centre of Advanced Studies, IBM Italy.

Should you wish to enter your thesis, please forward a copy (hard copy and electronic copy) together with your full contact details, a short CV (max. one page), the award you are competing for (Computational Logic, or Language and Communication Technologies), and relevant information on the thesis to:
