Staying Abroad
In the context of Socrates-Erasmus agreements there are good opportunities to stay abroad during our MSc. The 3rd semester of our MSc is designed to facilitate studies abroad.
In general you are free to choose a university of your choice. However, it is advantageous to choose a university that shares a concrete research interest with us and with whom we have an active research collaboration. We recommend Aalborg University in Denmark and Reykjavik University in Iceland.
The study concept at Aalborg University are problem-centred studies
organised around projects with the students working in groups of 3 to
5 students from a specific study program. As a starting point of a
project, the students, in cooperation with a supervisor, formulate a
problem/topic of a theoretical or practical nature within a given
framework. Under tutorial supervision, the students then solve the
problem and document the solution.
The project work generally accounts for 50% of the study time and another 50% is devoted to lectures, seminars and laboratory work. Some of the courses are related to the themes of the semesters and others serve as a direct support to the project work. At the end of each semester, the project is presented in a written report which is evaluated orally by the supervisor of the group and an external or internal examiners.
The database group at Aalborg University offers an excellent environment to work on temporal databases (data modeling, database design, data models and query languages, efficient query processing, and systems architectures), business intelligence, ubiquitous data management, mobile services, and spatial and spatiotemporal databases.
Reykjavík University consists of three schools:the Schools of
Business, the School of Computer Science, and the School of Law.
The School of Computer Science aims at keeping pace with innovations and reflecting international technological developments by continuously reviewing its curriculum. By so doing, we produce graduates with practical knowledge, as well as the sound theoretical basis needed to keep abreast of new developments in their field. The study programme gives students the educational qualifications needed to prepare them for both working life and future studies.
