XML for an Electronic Learners' Dictionary

Abstract

This paper describes the implementation of the electronic learner's dictionary ELDIT, focusing on the use of XML as uniform data representation language. XML provides several advantages including flexibility, separation between content and presentation, and the easy translation into HTML. The system has been implemented as an adaptive hyperbook and runs on the Web.
